A profile of the school
St Anselm's School was founded by the Sisters of La Retraite and from 1965 to 2000, the school was maintained through a partnership between its trustees and the local education authority as a ‘voluntary aided school’. In 2002 the Sisters of La Retraite handed over site ownership and trusteeship of the school to the Archdiocese of Southwark.
Welcome to St Anselm's Catholic Primary School
At St Anselm’s, our vision is for every child to grow in faith, to become a life-long learner, and to use their gifts and skills in service of others. Rooted in our Gospel mission and guided by our motto, “We are called to serve, to walk humbly with God,” we nurture children who are confident, compassionate and outward-looking global citizens.
Set within an oasis of calm in the heart of Tooting, we are a joyful and inclusive community where our school values of love, service, respect, endeavour and reconciliation shape daily life. We expect the very best from our children and measure our success in the academic, personal and spiritual growth of each child.
As a Catholic school, Christ is at the centre of all that we do. Inspired by St John’s words, “Let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth” (1 John 3:18), we aim to live out our faith through action — building a caring school family where every child is known, valued and supported to grow and flourish.
Having served St Anselm’s for many years, I know this is a truly special place. It is a privilege to lead our children, staff and families as we continue to grow together in learning, in faith and in love.
